The Heart That Gives, Gathers.

By Natasha Langton & Graham Forbes

Christmas Day is just around the corner, and while you may be feeling the warm glow of festive cheer thanks to a bellyful of mulled wine and mince pies, you’re also likely to be thinking about what presents you’ll be giving to your friends and family.

We too, have been in the spirit of giving this year and have worked with three charities in particular: The Moghissi Laser Trust, HEEE and Shantona Women’s and Family Centre.

The Moghissi Laser Trust is a small but vital charity based at the Yorkshire Laser Centre at Goole and District Hospital. This fantastic charity delivers pioneering laser treatment to cancer patients and people who are suffering from other life-threatening conditions. The trust aims to supply the provision of Photodetection and Photodynamic Therapy to alleviate the suffering of patients irrespective of their financial status. Laser therapy is less invasive than standard cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery as it shoots the laser directly into the affected area of the body. You can read more about how we helped Moghissi here

Another great new charity we have been working with is HEEE (which stands for Health, Education, Engineering and Environment). Set up by a group of colleagues at the University College London the charity's aim is to develop interdisciplinary links between the sectors to assist in the development of India by encouraging innovation and helping the industries build productive relationships. The HEEE concept is to integrate a more forward thinking and holistic approach to the development challenges that India faces. It aims to bring more collaboration between the industries to co-design solutions and create a better infrastructure for the country's future. The charity also hopes to integrate this approach in other developing countries around the world. See what we did for HEEE here

A wonderful charity that has long been close to our heart, is the integral Shantona Women’s and Family Centre based in Harehills in Leeds. Laws of Attraction has supported the charity with our services as part of our social corporate responsibility for several years. Shantona helps to build strength and relations within the community by mediating, intervening, educating, guiding and inspiring family relationships. The centre deals with some deeply complex issues and is a pivotal influence in repairing toxic relationships. Read about the activities we have supposed Shantona Women’s and Family Centre with here

Whilst it has been great to be able to use our skills to give back to the community via these three charities it’s been a positive learning experience for everyone involved in the projects at Laws of Attraction too. In giving something back, we have most definitely received.

We are always looking for people who can help us support these charities, through the kind donation of professional services. If you can find it in your heart to give a little extra this Christmas, we think you’ll be pleased with what you gain in return.
