Documenting the river states women empowerment support

In August 2015, we went to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, to film a documentary for Dame Judith Amaechi who wanted to document the work of her Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI). The project was to help women quickly get into work, cutting through red tape so that they can be working within days and providing for their families. We stayed in Government House and went on day trips to schools, hospitals and associations, visiting and interviewing a wide cross-section of the community. The fascinating fortnight took us to meet the chiefs of the different river and boundary communities and the managers and workers in schools, hospitals, churches and community centres across the Rivers State. A big thank you for the warm welcome and inspiring cultural experience to our Nigerian friends.

‘Simon was a great help and inspiration in the two weeks we spent in the Rivers State. A big thank you and God bless.’
